This QSL card was made when working for the US Air Force and I traveled alot.

My echolink node # is  250970   frequency 441.00 mhz  250.3 pl  simplex Manteca, Ca.

    Connect anytime for a QSO.

The Echolink system uses a ULI controller with notebook computer and commercial 440 Mhz      mobile radio. Information can be found at echolink.org on controllers. The system covers Manteca and is wireless except power for hardware. Incase power outage exceeds notebook battery time computer will reboot into echolink program. The power outages in our area are so little there was no reason for backup battery on transceiver and modem. To save power  the notebook will shutdown hard drive and monitor, running software off ram only.
To get maximum link range from my house I am running in open squelch. The problem that occurred  using 77 hz pl was a .12 second pulse being transmitted out over the echolink. I changed to 203.5 PL and problem went away. I also tried digital squelch called DCS and that worked but in not included in older transceivers even though it worked better then PL.

The simplex echolink is the answer to active hams that want to be miles from home and still use echolink. Sitting staring at a computer screen is not what I want to do. The construction of a link station is just connecting components together, antenna and internet. Some hams share a repeater system and that is ok but the problem is others being in control and down time. I tried this and was not a good solution to problem so have my own link.
To learn about controllers go to  echolink.org  for sellers.

Astron 20 amp power supply that will replace 12 amp Astron. I was given this supply and needed repair. To make it more complete the amp meter and LED light was added. The lamp is connected to DC section to show if there is a fault. The meter[ click for a bigger picture] is a government surplus unit that I scaled to work with a DC shunt internal. When a second radio is added will show total power consumption.

My mobile ham shack. I am using a HT and my dog jasper pulls me on daily walks about 1 mile or more.

a Icom IC-U82 ht tuned to 441.00 mhz on echolink system. The range from home QTH  is several    miles with Handy Talkie.
